Anglican History Being Made
Conservative Anglicans Create Rival Church | Christianity Today | A Magazine of Evangelical Conviction As I have written about previously, the current machinations of the Anglican Communion and Episcopal Church is the stuff that will be written about in future church history books. History was made again this week. A group of North American Anglicans have adopted a new constitution and procedures to become a new province and in theory, transplant the place of the Episcopal Church within worldwide Anglicanism. Some suggest that since they have not gone through proper application procedures through the Anglican Consultive Council and the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, that they cannot replace TEC or be recognized as an official province. However, when 80% of the Anglican Communion recognizes you as replacing them .... well, there's something to be said for that. This is really exciting to God's hand at restructuring Anglicanism. |
