Roman Catholic Hospitals and Reiki
Reiki banned from Roman Catholic hospitals as neither science nor medicine - The Boston Globe This was not a decision made by the hospitals, who apparently saw a measure of results from the practice of reiki. It was a decision of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Wikipedia calls Reiki a 'spiritual practice' and also notes "a systematic review of randomized clinical trials conducted in 2008 did not support the efficacy of Reiki or its recommendation for use in the treatment of any condition." The article gives the impression that many are unhappy about this decision but it seems the Bishops made a decision consistent with their theology. Those who are RC and arguing for Reiki do not appear to understand their own theology well. |
