It is often used as a metaphor for an intractable problem, solved by a bold stroke ("cutting the Gordian knot")" So what is the "intractable problem" of evangelicals according to the Times article? It's our individual focus when it comes to marriage and having children, causing our young people to marry later and causing us to speak hypocritically to homosexuals. And the bold stroke? Early marriage.
