Denis Canon Dead?

Last year the South Carolina Supreme Court struck down the Episcopal Church's infamous Denis Canon, which says that each local parish holds their property in trust for the diocese (i.e. the diocese really owns it). The Denis Canon is the lock that keeps churches from walking away from the national body with their property in the Episcopal church. Because of that ruling, the SC churches can now keep their property if they leave the national church. The linked article tells of a trust lawyer that says if the SC case went to the US Supreme Court it might spell the end of the Denis Canon across the country and possibly have implications for other judicatories.
